Talk on Aboriginal Art: Paintings from Yuendumu

Saturday 4 February 2023, 3 - 4 pm
The Aboriginal community of Yuendumu in the Northern Territory, Australia, was one of the earliest desert communities to take up the torch of the painting movement from Papunya in the 1980s. From the outset, Yuendumu art has been characterised by its flamboyant enjoyment of colour, and its bold, organic, sense of design.

The upcoming talk accompanies the exhibition, Gathered Together: Paintings from Yuendumu, which will be on display at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery from 1 - 25 February 2023.

The talk will involve a discussion between Rebecca Hossack, director of the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery, and Cecilia Alfonso, manager of Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, followed by questions from the audience.

The talk will take place on Saturday 4 February 2023 between 3 - 4 pm at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery on 2a Conway Street, London, W1T 6BA.
