The Things People Do To Parrots: Graham Fransella

15 May - 10 June 1989 London
Overview

Well known Australian artist Graham Fransella opens his first London solo show at Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery. His artworks depict a parrot with outstretched wings and body curiously shaped like a boomerang. Fransella's character goes through a series of indignities inflicted on him by some extremely active humans cavorting around in the nude.

Primaries abound, painted on a ground prepared with a light blush of colours. The effect is of crayon drawings, but the combination of both hard and soft ground gives a much wider range.
