Janus: Group Show

19 January - 25 February 2017 London
Overview

Opening the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery's 2017 exhibition programme is Janus, a group show which showcases the gallery's diverse representation of alternative media.

Spanning both the Conway Street and Charlotte Street galleries, the display will juxtapose contrasting textures.

Canadian sculptor Ross Bonfanti will be represented by his concrete and toy part sculptures, alongside Laurence Jones' smoothly layered screen-like depictions of ultra-modern dwellings. Rob Tucker's oil, graphite and resin works will be joined by Barbara Macfarlane's aerial maps of London, as well as antique paper collage and gel acrylic works from French painter Sylvain Lefebvre, each artist presenting a uniquely tactile finish. Collage will also feature in Rose Blake's meta-artistic monotypes.

The exhibition will also include oil paintings by Morten Lassen and Esther Nienhuis, digital prints by Phil Shaw and folk-inspired floral paintings by Hepzibah Swinford. A selection of Aboriginal canvases from the central desert will also be on show.
