Taxidermized hunting dog
Unknown craftsman
Still used today, but not as commonly, hunting dogs are canines used for their distinct traits and skills that allow them to aid hunters in capturing and killing prey. This taxidermized hunting dog, most likely a poodle from the 1890s, most likely held its paws up in its frozen pose to hold the shotgun of its owner while they scouted for waterfowl.
