Art For Life

The Bloomsbury Festival

Saturday 15 October 2022

Art For Life is a creative wellbeing workshop that includes painting, drawing, words and movement. Inspired by the festival’s theme ‘Breathe’, and prioritising imagination and playfulness, the workshop aims to enhance wellbeing, reduce stress and encourage interpersonal engagement through structured creative activities.

With its roots in art therapy, Art For Life explores how engaging with art through creative practice can help develop the practical and psychological skills that support personal wellbeing.

Led by Milly Green, a qualified and experienced practitioner, participants will be guided through the experience of art-making in a safe and supportive group setting. Participants are encouraged to find meaning in their work and bring their experiments to life. The emphasis of the workshop is not being ‘good’ at art, but on taking part and enjoying the process.

The Art For Life workshop at the Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery will be centred on a selection of artworks curated around the theme, ‘nature’. This will include an array of remarkable artworks, from Australian Aboriginal paintings to Roy Wright’s magnificent charcoal drawings of trees.
