Too Many Green Teas Consumed Daily is Just Too Healthy: Rob Tucker

13 February - 1 March 2014 London
Overview

Rob Tucker is a young New Zealand painter. His compelling images of ships and kitchen appliances  - at once bold and playful - have already won international acclaim. He has exhibited with great success in the US, Asia, Australia and the UK. In 2012 he was featured at Art Melbourne on the New Generation platform - a showcase for emerging artists who are 'doing important work and should be considered seriously by collectors and astute investors.' Later that same year, Tucker was awarded the Royal Overseas League Visual Arts Travel Scholarship.

His technique combines richly-worked painting and mark-making on to board with the beguiling sheen of an almost lacquered finish.  As he explains:

'I like to celebrate and glorify the subject of living in my naïve organic style of painting.  My work is heavily layered… I almost sculpt an impression of paint and mixed media on to board.'
